"Never
doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change
the world, indeed it is the only thing that ever has." ~ Margaret Mead

Freedom Shabbat
Sponsor: Not for Sale Campaign | Target: Jewish worshippers at SynagoguesThink of what would happen if synagogues in every community prayed and preached against slavery. Imagine the hope that would spill out into our neighborhoods and world as choirs sang about liberation, children gave their dimes and quarters to free slaves, study groups were launched to learn more, and mission’s trips were planned to see more and do more. What would happen if we could tap into the potential of our faith communities?
Those “what/ifs” reveal the potential of what Freedom Sunday could be. The resources are unlimited. The energy is palpable. The results would be – will be - amazing.
Freedom Sunday was held on April 2nd or 3rd, 2010. The concept behind Freedom Shabbat is to give Jewish communities encouragement and assistance so that the faithful can worship, intercede, and act with a clear focus on ending slavery in their communities and world. Resources, a webpage, and networks are now available.
For more information, to sign up, and to access resources you can log on at: www.freedomsunday.org. Also, you can find out more about how to respond as a faith community by joining the Underground Church Network on the Not for Sale website. Download the Freedom Sunday flyer here.
Buy Sex, Buy... (forthcoming)
Sponsors: SAS & other collaborating organizations | Target: Men and "johns"Preventing the demand for prostitution will greatly help end slavery and human trafficking and, ultimately, save lives. It can slow the rampant criminal activities sex crimes brings about such as kidnapping, physical abuse, drug addiction, forced prostitution, slavery, sexual exploitation, and rape. Local and national experts tell us 99% of all "sex workers" are actually victims of slavery and human trafficking. Equally outrageous and important to note is that the current climate
of this growing demand is directly the reason why girls forced into prostitution are getting younger and younger. Right now, the average age of these sex victims is 12 to 13 years old. We demand the end of sex crimes which is predominantly male and have a movement of Men Against Slavery. Please download posters...
